Ratan Tata, the former chairman of Tata Sons and one of India’s most respected business leaders, is known for his keen eye for innovation and technology. In recent years, he has invested in numerous startups that are creating waves in the entrepreneurial ecosystem. Here’s a look at five startups that have caught his attention:

1. Ola

Ratan Tata invested in Ola, one of India’s leading ride-hailing platforms. As the transportation industry shifts towards sustainability, Ola’s expansion into electric vehicles (EVs) with Ola Electric has gained significant traction, aligning with Tata’s vision for a cleaner future.

2. Urban Company

Urban Company, a home services platform, received an investment from Tata in 2015. The startup has grown rapidly, offering services ranging from beauty treatments to home repairs, helping professionals connect with customers in over 30 cities worldwide.

3. Paytm

Ratan Tata invested in Paytm, India’s largest digital payment platform, at a time when cashless transactions were gaining popularity. With India’s fintech industry booming, Paytm remains a leader, continuously innovating with financial services like Paytm Bank and Paytm Mall.

4. Lenskart

Tata’s investment in Lenskart, an online eyewear retailer, highlights his focus on health and accessibility. Lenskart’s use of technology, such as 3D try-on features and AI-driven recommendations, has revolutionized the eyewear industry.

5. Cure.fit

Health and wellness startup Cure.fit secured funding from Tata in 2017. As fitness tech and wellness trends surge post-pandemic, Cure.fit’s digital fitness platform and healthcare solutions have become increasingly relevant.

Ratan Tata’s investment portfolio includes more than 40 companies including Cardekho, FirstCry, Urban ladder and a few brokerage and fintech solutions as well.
